Northern Cleanup from Indian Lake to Franklin

Most of the variuos sites in the northern reaches of the Great Miami will be holding their cleanups on July 19 and 20. One exception to this is Logan County who will be holding their cleanup on July 22. See the locations page for more details.

2013 River Cleanup will be held in the Fall for the Middletown to the Ohio River sites

Yes, the southern section of the Great Miami River Cleanup has changed from May to the fall. For the past several years the cleanup has been inundated with rain and experienced flooding in several sites. This raised safety concerns and cancelled some cleanup locations, so we have decided to move the event away from the Spring. Why not try summer you may ask. Well, those of you that have been around since the early days will remember when we held the event in July. The weeds were tall, the mosquitoes were out, and it was HOT! Therefore, we have decided to hold the cleanup from Middletown to the Ohio River on November 2. Sure we may hit some weather issues, but hopefully it will be an improvement over May or July. We hope you will join us, so please mark your calendars for November 2.

What is the Great Miami River Clean Up?

The Great Miami River Cleanup is a volunteer event focused on removing trash and restoring the health of the Great Miami River. This cleanup is an annual event coordinated by many partners and held on the first Saturday of May in the lower region of the river and in July in the upper reaches.

Why is it Important?

The Great Miami River Cleanup is about much more than picking up trash. It’s a day for communities to demonstrate their desire for clean water and healthy rivers. It’s an opportunity to learn about our river, and it’s a time to come together with your families, your neighbors, your community, and your friends to accomplish something vital and worthy on behalf of our Great Miami River.

How can you participate?

Participating in the Great Miami River Cleanup is easy! Select a location near you to find out more site specific info including times, exact location, and contact person..

There is no need to pre-register for a location, though it is recommended for groups to make sure we have enough t-shirts and scout patches. To pre-register, select on a site from our location page for an info sheet with contact details.

Please note that all 18 year olds and under must have a parent or guardian sign a release. Adults can complete their release at the event.

If you don’t see a cleanup near you and want to get one started, call Kevin Fall at (513) 887-3720 for assistance.
